 Review: Jupiter Avenue / Self-Titled
I was approached by someone via e-mail who duped me into sending him a copy of Jupiter Avenue's self-titled sophomore release to do a review. After weeks of waiting and a few specious e-mails saying he'd already posted his review and / or he's send it again via e-mail (then where the f*ck is it?) I've decided to do what I should have done in the first place - write it myself. It's so hard to find good, free help these days.

 SPARKLE AND SHINE
hunnypie writes

On a Wednesday, June 11, 2002, I decided to join some friends for a Birthday "lets just party" celebration. Of course we went to our local scene, better known as "THE MACHINE SHOP" located in Flint, Michigan. The first band to play was KOYL. They opened with such energy, I was totally blown away by their performance. They sparkled and shined with a overpowering effect. If you get a chance to see them perform, do not pass up the opportunity! Just my opinion but I think many would agree also. Hey Jason; get ahold of me!

- Melinda

(Editor's Note: Koyl will be performing at the "Jobbie Nooner" at Gull Island on Friday June 21st and at the Hayloft on Saturday June 22 with Critical Bill, Rolling Machine, and Atlas 7. )

 Survey Says....
Well, the "I don't submit articles, reviews or comments because..." survey is done and it turns out that almost half of you (41.67 percent) just don't have anything important to say, which explains most of the lyrics out there. Twenty-five percent of you promise to get around to submitting articles, press releases, etc... but you just can't be bothered to participate right now. The remaining 24.99 percent are either freaked out by technology, apathetic about your impact, or won't submit to anyone - at least not without whips, chains and a car-battery.
Now let's see what you feel your chances are of "Making It" in the music business.

 Don't Have A Blues Clue
saxsymbol writes On Friday, June 7th, a red-hot blues and R&B act stormed the stage at the ABATE (American Bikers Aiming Toward Education) Evergreen Park Benefit. While the band was undeniably smokin', there is one small problem: we were billed under the name Whiskey Brothers, which may or may not be a cool sounding name, but belongs to my previous band. As your pal, and purveyor of blue notes, I'm askin' for your help: We need a new name for our blues band!

Anybody Can Play The Blues, Right?
saxsymbol writes There's an interesting phenomenon in the commercial music scene today! Otherwise sensible musicians, the sort who would never, say, just decide to go after that chamber music gig, because they know they're not qualified for it, can't seem to find the same restraint when it comes to our beloved blues! Now, don't get me wrong, blues hounds like me firmly believe that the blues is, in fact, a pretty universal musical language.( English is also a pretty universal language, with a significant portion of the world using it as a first -or second- language. I'm not sure that means that everybody can be a poet, either!)
