Review: The Sax Maniacs (2-song EP)
You never know what mood somebody's going to be in when they get ahold of your CD. Unfortunately for The Sax Maniacs, Mitch quit smoking this week so he's even less amused by novelty than usual.

'Two years ago, Producer/Saxophonist David Daniele treated us to his U of M Dearborn Diversity CD which featured a vast array of local independent talent on one disc...This time around, Daniele is peddling his own wares with his cover band, The Sax Maniacs (know what I mean? nudge-nudge, wink-wink). ~Groan~.'

Jam Master Jay of RUN DMC Dead
According to an article by Shaheem Reid on the MTV News website, Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell) of RUN DMC was shot and killed last night at a studio in Queens, New York. The famous hip-hop DJ had recently finished a tour with hometown boy Kid Rock and legendary rockers Aerosmith who's career was revived in the eighties with RUN DMC's rap-infused version of "Walk This Way.  83rd Dream @ Wooden Nickel
Kat's on the prowl again. Though it's recently been announced that The Wooden Nickel has gone country again, Kat caught what may have been one of the last hard rock shows at the Ypsi venue last Thursday night including performances from 83rd Dream (who've dominated the top spot in hottest band links, by fate or design) and Red Edison. Oh, and if you happen to meet Kat out there in the trenches, buy her a drink. She's working for the love of independent music. Click "Read More".

Wooden Nickel to Feature Country Acts
From Larry Garcia of DetroitCountryMusic.com.

As we all know, Country Music in the Detroit area has had it's ups and downs. This week we are proud to announce that a bar that left the Country Music format is coming back and DetroitCountryMusic.com and it's member bands are happy to be a part of it. The Wooden Nickel Saloon in Ypsilanti was once an anchor for Country Music on the West side of the city. As many clubs did however, they turned to other types of music during the 90's in order to keep up with competition.
