 They're Baaaakkkk!

DetroitMusic.com is Back!  The site was has been under daily attack since November 6th by an unknown assailant.  The person(s) responsible for the assault have been posting multiple blank posts to the high traffic music forum.  Any posts by the regular visitors were quickly pushed back several pages on the site.  An effort to trace down those responsible is under way.

The new site is much easier to navigate and has several new features available to registered users such as who's online, a user photo gallery and a private messaging system.  Also new is a search feature, although I couldn't get that to work during my visit.

Michael, the owner of DM, says he intends to keep the site an open forum and will continue to allow anonymous posts by his visitors, however he doesn't rule out the need to require registration in the future.

Good luck with the new script Michael.  That damn board is addictive!

Former CyberTribe members return from Middle East
Former members of CyberTrybe, Sean Mooer and Sid Hodge, returned from the Middle East recently after being deployed with Air Force Security Forces/Anti-Terrorist Strike Force under Operation Enduring Freedom.

Both spent 100 days at an undisclosed air base in the little known country of "Qatar".

Sean is looking forward into getting back into the music scene. "I was happy to be able to be there to get a little payback for 911 but now I just want to get back to writing and playing music. I missed my guitar the most!"

Sid says he "is just glad to get back to playing drums and playing video games".

Both are working on a new project called "Grunt". More information on Grunt can be viewed at gruntmusic.com.

 VooDoo Takes Out Editor's Instrument
I know some of you out there are wondering, "Hey, what the hell is up with Mitch? Where's my story? Where's my ad? Where's my Hassen-Pheffer?" Bad mojo has infected your editor's finger, then his hand, who know's what next. Truth is, I shouldn't even be typing - doctor's orders. If it aint better by tomorrow or the next day, hospital bed. See what happens when you make a hobby of dis'n some artiste's heartfelt trash? VooDoo Revenge. With any luck I'll be back in the pink by next week. With my usual luck, they'll be calling me "Lefty" and I'll have to learn to masturbate all over again. Sorry for the delays all around. Now go write me some GEMS, I'm hungry. - Mitch

 Jibilian on Mitch Albom Show

Gary Jibilian and his infamous NS Stick will be appearing on Detroit's Mitch Albom Show today (11-8) from 3-6PM.  The show can be heard on 760 AM WJR.

Mitch is a strong supporter of local indie talent from Michigan and the Detroit area.  Artists are given a couple of minutes during the break to perform on air.  Mitch always has some comments about the band and often will do a little banter with the artists.

 DetroitMusic.com gets attacked

DetroitMusic.com, a Detroit area forum, was attacked by a "hacker" yesterday (11-5-2002).   The hacker mounted a "denial of service" attack, in which the targeted web site is bombarded in a way that results in an overload of the server.  Regular visitors are unable to access the site while it is under attack, hence the term "denial of service".  The attack consisted of about 3000 blank posts to the forum and lasted from about 6PM to 10PM.  Detroit Music's owner, Michael K., told us that he wasn't aware of the attack while it was happening.  This is not unusual, because email will be shut down too, making it impossible for any notifications to be sent to the webmaster of the site while under attack.
