| Review of The Wrenfields' Seconds |
|
Mitch finally cuddles up to The Wrenfields' sophomore release entitled, "Seconds" - once he got over his aversion to the "C-word", that is.
'...despite my hip discomfort with anything that might inspire line-dancing (ugh), "Seconds" has become a warm and welcome companion to my holiday season, when such sentiments seem perfectly appropriate. '
Click "Read More" to find why you should get a heapin' helpin' of "Seconds" for yourself. Don't worry, you can work it off before spring - just like you did last year, right?

One man's "sell-out" is another man's treasure. Why does no one label it a "sell-out" when three or four of our very most talented original Detroit acts agree to sit around in some over-priced, superficial pick-up joint in BFE County for $3-a head & one half-hour set in between the guys in bunny costumes & the ozzy-wanna-be's? Just as every artist/warrior marches to a slightly different drummer, so every performer has a different price. Artists and whores have long been compared analyzed, to the same bitter-sweet conclusion . . .

selfinfliction writes Self Infliction will be opening for the Murder Dolls at Harpos on wed. nov.27
The band just recently opened for kittie, dope, black label society, nile, and arch enemy.
This will be a good show to check out before you go to the bar that night. Self Infliction always has a killer after-party, that is if you can find someone at the show with directions.
Self Infliction started somewhere around the year 2000 and within two short years has became your mothers worst nightmare. They may not have been around for very long but Self Infliction will be looking to create chaos for years to come. Keep checking for future shows or check out selfinfliction.com

Written loosely in the pulp fiction style of Mickey Spillane, Mitch Phillips creates the character "Woodward Dick" to review the jazz stylings of Grace and The Boys at Dino's in Ferndale.
'Her voice was as smooth and inviting as her silk stockings. Not just any stockings, mind you, but high-quality hose with hand-stitched seams running from the back of her ankles up to secret places that beg for private investigation. . . '

| Riverside Drive & Kingsnakes Step UP |
|
When we were steeped in anxiety, wondering where our next server fee was going to come from, who was the first one to step up to the plate? I'll tell you who - Xina from RIVERSIDE DRIVE. Though she admits she's a starving artist, she volunteered to throw Michiganbands.com a fundraiser (click on image to the left for poster). Then she convinced one of Michigan's hottest tickets, THE KINGSNAKES to join the party too. What can we say XINA? You Rock! We invite everyone to join us at The New Way Bar on Friday, Dec 6th for a party and MB fundraiser that promises to get out of hand. Make Plans Now! - Mitch

| Michiganbands.com, A Prequel: Funkilinium @ JW's |
|
Since prequels are all the rage, here's a review I wrote almost a year ago about an outfit called Funkilinium. This was before Michiganbands.com was up and running, before September 11th, before the Stanley Cup. I never published it because I could never get ahold of the band based on the information I'd scribbled on a bar napkin. Then yesterday, a new member by the nickname of "GT" posted on Michiganbands.com forum to promote his band - you guessed it, Funkilinium. God, it seems longer than a year.
