Need
a little Christmas music to get in the mood? First I would suggest picking
up a copy of "Season
of Hope". The proceeds go for Leukemia research. The CD
features lots of Michigan indie artists, including Robb Roy doing "Happy
Christmas" and Thornetta Davis doing "Boggie Woggie Santa
Clause". If that's not enough, many other notables grace the
CD. There is even a bit on there from Ernie Harwell.
Ok, you want something for free first right??? Here you go. Drop
over to grab some of Nicholas
Palmer's music on MP3.com. I can hear it now ... Nicholas
Who???? Mr. P is one bad piano player from GR. This is really mellow
stuff that won't offend your grand mother. Nicholas has just been
"signed" to provide charts for none other than MusicNotes.com
an internet based sheet music provider. They also happen to be one of our
"sponsors". Pretty big time stuff considering that they rarely
seek out someone to contribute like this. Mr. P got the call directly from
the CEO.
If you have some Christmas tunes you want to share. Drop us a line and
let us know about them. Tis the season ...

| Michigan Metalfest Review |

We should have known that Kat would show up at The Michigan Metal Showcase at the Carriage House last Saturday. We just can't keep her away from the "hard stuff." Lucky for us, she writes it all down on a bar-napkin before she goes home that night- not so much to keep us informed, but to have a record of events just in case there's any question as to her whereabouts on any given night. Short-term memory is for whimps! Click "Read More" for Kat's take on the Michigan Metalfest.

That's right, once again we've committed Random Acts of Music on your behalf in an effort to spread the gospel of local music. This time we gave away music from The Wrenfields and The Grins. Now let's see who our latest vicitms are.

Dear Bandheads, In my ongoing struggle to become a better human, I quit smoking on November 1st after twenty-one years of a pack-and-a-half-per-day habit. Big, fat, hairy deal, right? Well, this fundamental change in my brain chemistry has temporarily (I hope) altered my ability to do anything productive. It seems silly, unless you've been there, that such a positive change for your health should have such a debilitatinig effect on your brain...

| Serendipitous Gem from Kilkenny |
|
Occassionally I'll listen to music samples while I'm adding events to the calendar, waiting to hear something that really gets me off. It's rare that it happens, but when it does I can't wait to share it with everyone. When Kilkenny posted their gig at The Hayloft, I noticed their URL wasn't the one listed with our site. When I visited their old page, I happened upon the gem "Marvin" (download here). Rare alternative smack that makes you want to dye your hair blue, tear holes in your clothes, stick safety-pins through your nose and dig out your old Violent Femmes and Wall Of VooDoo records. The kids call it Garage, I call it Killer stuff. - Click "Read More" for their bio.
