Music Review: ''The Upstairs Chronicles'' by Almost Famous
Almost Famous may not win a Grammy Award for their CD, "The Upstairs Chronicles", but they get my vote for "Most Patience With an Online Indie Publication While Awaiting a Stupid Review" (I'm afraid to even look at the post-mark on that envelope). In any case, this eight-song debut is the result of the trio's foray into pop music while matriculating at The University of Michigan - that liberal bastion of affirmative action and war protestations that I would donate my kidneys to attend. Is my envy showing? On to the review...

 Music Stores: Is Bigger Better?
Our very own HIPPIECHIC is very loyal to her local music store. She buys her gear there, uses the stores services and sometimes just hangs out to chat with the owners and employees. But occassionally, she's lured away from the warmth and coziness of her neighborhood store by the bigger stores who stock rows of top-of-the-line, custom guitars, fancy glass shelves stuffed with the newest gadgets and whole rooms dedicated to amplifiers. When it comes to music stores, is bigger better? Click "Read More" for Hippiechic's story.

 Struggling Weekend Venue Needs Support
ponygrrl writes There's not much going on in the Jackson area for live, original music, but about 15-20 mins from Jackson, in Concord, MI is an awesome little venue called Maggies. Maggies hosts some great live music on Saturdays (some of which I've reviewed). But theres a problem - Maggies is having thoughts of selling because of their money situation. The venue is barely known around the Jackson area; It's 10 minutes from me and I only found out about it in October of 02! So, we need to save the awesome little venue called Maggies by showing our support for a struggling venue that hosts live, original music. Click "Read More".

 MINDROUGHT ready to move forward
mindrought writes Last year saw a whirlwind of press and shows for Mindrought, but missing was a full length CD for the record downloading public. The five song ep was well received, but only ended up with us getting requests for more songs. There are some good choice studios in Michigan, but Downriver Sound and producer Pete Bankert were chosen for this undertaking. Soon Mindrought will present a 12 song full-length and prepare to move to the next level. Click "Read More" for details and a link.
