| Random Acts of Music: DMA 2003 |
|
OK, just because we've won the war doesn't mean your really safe - at least not from Michiganbands.com Random Acts of Music. We're still targeting members of the unsuspecting public with free CD's and proselytizing for independent music. In this particular R.A.M. incident, we preach to the choir and reward a few attendees at the 2003 Detroit Music Awards. But don't get too comfortable in your post-war jubilation, you're still considered a viable target for our continuing mission to spread the music.

| DMA 2003 Part Deux: Scmooze Fest #3 |
|
by Mitch Phillips (continued from Part One.) Napoleon K and I finally make it inside The State Theater for the DMA awards. I pretty much know what to expect - this is my third awards show in as many years. Most people ignore the presentations (unless, of course, they've been nominated themselves ) and get right to the drinking and schmoozing. The Second City Detroit comedy troupe do their best again to entertain between award presentations, but the P.A. sound, from where I'm standing, is so dreadful that they're mostly ignored by the chattering crowd. K tells me he hasn't been to a DMA in years, but the last time he went he met Mitch Ryder and Alice Cooper (he got a picture taken with Alice which is proudly displayed in his studio). No such celebrity love tonight...
Note: continued from Part One.
