| Check out Ann Delisi's Essential Music on WDET |
Hey Folks,
I just wanted to let you know if you didn't already that Ann Delisi has a weekend show on WDET (101.9 FM) called "Essential Music" which features local Detroit area music every hour. It airs Saturday and Sunday from noon until 4:00 pm. You can also submit music for her show's theme until March 22nd. Details can be found at the website (http://www.wdetfm.org/ann-delisi.php). Check it out and make a small donation while you're at it, ok. Let them know the local music community supports this move.
It's about time local music got some serious air time, eh?
Take care of yourselves,
Mitch

| Looking For Original Music For A&E Television Series |
HYBRID FILMS is looking for new, original music from Michigan musicians for use in our hit television series PARKING WARS, currently airing on A&E Network.
We're looking for music in all genres as long as there are lyrics (we are all set with instrumental/background tunes). We REQUIRE that musicians own and control (or at least can help us license quickly and easily) all rights (i.e. NO COVERS). Bands must be registered with either ASCAP or BMI. We can't pay up an upfront licensing fee, but we will credit the band at the end of the ep, include their info on A&E's website and all royalties are applicable. If the above sounds good to you-- please send me your CDs.
CDs should be sent to:

Dear Bandheads,
Though I've enjoyed listening to and learning about your bands and volunteering to spread the news about your music from this website for the past eight years (and some years before that on other sites and rags), my free time has grown short due to additional responsibilities in my life that demand more attention. What time I do find for myself will be spent pursuing my own creative needs.
Good luck with all your endeavors and take care of yourselves. More importantly, take care of each other.
Sincerely,
Mitch

| Radio Free Michigan - F'in ROCKS! |
If you're looking to satisfy your local music jonz while you're paying your bills online, surfing internet porn or just want to hear something {{{{{{fresh}}}}} in the background while you operate your electric dog polisher, RADIO FREE MICHIGAN has you covered with a constant stream of home-grown music from all genres - just like terrestrial radio used to do before it got greedy, boring and stupid. In the span of just a half-hour, I heard rock, hard rock, soul, blues, pop, a solo acoustic performance and some pseudo-funky progressive stuff so cool you would NEVER hear it on terrestrial radio. And the best part is it's all LOCALLY PRODUCED in Michigan - NOT in L.A., NOT in Mexico, NOT in China, NOT in South America or any other distant locale where all the jobs have gone. This is the way to get hip to new local music. I've already found some new favorites (Crop Circle's "Flatland Queen" for one, Sweet Japonic's "Two O'Clock Sirens" for another) and I'm confident you will find some new favorites too. Tune in now while it's still interesting. - Mitch

| MB Welcomes Buddha's Revenge |
Did you ever have one of those days when a theme keeps re-emerging and tapping you on the head trying to get your attention? Well, today's theme is Buddhism - which piqued my consciousness a few weeks ago when I started reading "An Idiot's Guide To....", re-emerged today in Canadian songwriter Irene Jackson's blog posting about "the first noble truth", and finally came to a head with the band link submission of Buddha's Revenge - which I decided to put in our Original Artists / Twisted Sh*t That Defies Categorization category (when you hear "Troll" you'll know what I mean). Buddha's Revenge is the amalgamation of graphic artist and singer Bruce Lehto, his son guitarist Eric Lehto, and hickbilly humor drummer Patrick Vadnals of Pat V and the Detroit 3. Click "read more" below for links to both acts and an explanation as to why they formed Buddha's Revenge and a widget of Bruce's artwork.

| MB Welcomes The Kielbasa Kings |
The Kielbasa Kings will be kicking off the Christmas party at The Crofoot in Pontiac with Stewart Franke and The Polish Muslims. You might not think a night of polka would be the highlight of your Christmas weekend, particularly if you're one of those scensters who wouldn't be caught dead at Octoberfest. But fear not the oompa, my image-conscious friends. Imagine such hip classics as The Violent Femme's "Blister In The Sun" played at a brisk 2/4! Not only will you be appropriately 80's Retro while dancing to this daring subversion of pop culture, but I'd bet my polish sausage it's more likely to put a smile on your face than any band sporting hip-huggers, side-bangs and a casually dismissive demeanor. MB welcomes The Kielbasa Kings to the Original Artists / Polka category in our band links section. Now go forth and half-step until you spill all your bier!
As always, click "read more" below for the links.
