MB State of The Union 2004
Inspired by our President's apparent belief that, if you say something often enough it will become right and true, Editor Mitch Phillips plagiarizes George W. Bush's State of The Union Address to communicate with the membership of Michiganbands.com for 2004. Highlights include asking for more money without telling you specifically how it's going to be spent, promising more goods and services for Michigan bands without actually spending any of that money and asking for your participation without paying you for it. Like the current administration, we exist entirely by your continued faith in us (heavy sarcasm intended). Click "Read More" below.

Have Michigan Musicians Lost the Battle?
zen_blues_dog writes
Michigan musicians are losing the battle for live music engagements. More and more the clubs are buying into the DJ / karaoke syndrome. Look in any entertainment section in any newspaper and count the number of clubs that used to have "Live" music that now feature DJs and Karaoke. Don't look good does it? But why have these clubs turned on the hard working musician? Click "Read More" below.

Would you bare a breast for success?
Some people were offended, some didn't think it was a big deal, but one fact is indisputable - the premeditated exposure of Janet Jackson's bare breast has had the media talking about her and Justin Timberlake for more than a week. Congressional hearings on decency in the media is sure to keep that buzz alive for at least another week. Stunts like these (e.g. Madonna and Britney Spears' tongue-sucking on national t.v.) are becoming more common. Why? Because controvesy translates into increased sales. Our latest survey asks, "Would you bare a breast for success?"

Music Review: Bruthas From Anotha Mutha by Four Deep

Coming from a group of skinny white boys, I'm not sure If I'm supposed to be amused or offended by the cover art of Four Deep's "Bruthas From Another Mutha"; An afro-clad space sista's about to tongue the sweat from a smaller, paler satellite sporting a nervous grin. Come to think about it, it's probably perfectly appropriate. I choose to be amused. Click "Read More" below for Mitch's review.
