| Michiganbands.com welcomes Daddy Jack |
Back when MB was first getting started, one of our most fervent supporters was a passionate singer named Xina (a true warrior princess, not that made-for-t.v. crap) who not only arranged our very first fund raiser, but rocked our face off as well. Bands have come and bands have gone since then and a lot of living has transpired, most of it boring and mundane and some of it just plain ugly. But no matter what happened, eventually you come back to the only thing that puts fire in your belly and joy into your life - no, not alcoholic egg-nog - you come back to the music! Lucky for us, that's exactly what Xina's done with her latest band Daddy Jack. Along with Beau & Mike (bass & drums respectively), Xina's hit the studio and the stage again to do what she was born to do - rock & roll with it. We're honored to have them in our Original Artists / Rock & Pop category. You can also see performances from Daddy Jack on YouTube.

| Michiganbands.com welcomes Lucybrownsville |
As our latest addition to our Original Artists / Funk & Soul category, Lucybrownsville describes their sound as "70's influenced rock and soul in the genre of sly and the family stone/rolling stones/otis redding, etc...". Judging from the deliciously distorted electric piano and modulated vocals that introduce "Drown" from their their Myspace page, I'd say that about nails the vibe. Of course this isn't exactly a new direction for singer/keyboardist Marcus Christy and drummer Paul Winterhalter. You may recall those names from our 2004 review of Four Deep. Now the pair have matched up with bassist Mike Wilbur and singer Rebekah Hopper to create Lucybrownsville. Check them out live upstairs at The Berkley Front on Dec 19th at 9pm.
