Euphoric Haze CD Release Party @ Token w/Flophouse, Steppdogg
Back when my wife worked for an industrial tool supplier in Redford she noticed that one of her co-workers often sang along to the radio.  Not just musical mumbling mind you, but belting out the song better than the vocals coming out of the speakers.  She only knew him as Howard, one of the few people she could tolerate at that job. As it turned out, that co-worker was Howard Whitaker - the lead singer for the alternative rock band Euphoric Haze.  She brought home his CD, Euphoric Haze's "Volume One", and we were both pretty impressed.  It was like a mix of Seattle grunge and power pop, just like their link description here on MB said.  The sound was tight and the songs were good.
Four years later, Euphoric Haze has finally released their long-awaited follow-up, "Losing Sleep"  on Hell City Records.  To celebrate, they'll be throwing their CD release party at The Token Lounge this Saturday, March 1st.  It's not only ther perfect opportunity to see Euphoric Haze, but also Flophouse, Steppdogg (former Nasties/Face drummer Steve Firneno's new band) and The Black List.  It's going to be a great night of rock and we hope to see you there. - MItch

Charlie Naebeck: Download My New Record Now FREE
superpenguin79 writes:

Hi everyone,

hope winter is treating you well here in MI... its bitter cold of course, but that doesn't stop music. I wanted to share that I have released a new 15 song LP called "How Can I Be Afraid". You can download it FREE on my site: http://www.charlienaebeck.com.  This is my 5th release to date and honestly I did the record to kill time here and there over the past year and a half.   I didn't stick with one style in particular so there are acoustic instrumentals, jazz, industrial, and rock tracks on this one. Enjoy and hope everyone is well. peace

Charlie

MB Welcomes Stephanie Raymond
Stephanie RaymondMichiganbands.com would like to welcome Stephanie Raymond to our band links section (original artists/country).  Stephanie is from Saint Clair, Mi (first knuckle of your Michigan thumb) and  started writing music and playing guitar as a freshman in high school. Now, as a freshman in college, she's working on the release of her first solo record with producer Chip Stead and her father, Rod Raymond, a Christian/country artist in his own right.  Stephanie hopes to make music her career and, with what sounds like a natural gift, we hope the world makes that possible for her.
Stephanie is currently looking to put a band together, presumably to promote her forthcoming effort, and is welcoming comments about her songs on her MySpace page.

Michiganbands.com Welcomes Bob Hausler
Michiganbands.com would like to welcome singer, songwriter & guitarist Bob Hausler to our band links section (original artists/singer-songwriters). Bob has worked with many notables in the biz and has opened shows for many more (see his website for an impressive list). As a session guitarist he's appeared on hundreds of recordings and his songs have been pitched to or recorded by national acts such as Alabama, Jon Anderson, Randy Travis and others.  And when Bob's not adding projects to his already impressive career, he's spends a lot of time helping others develop their songwriting skills as founder and current president of the Mid-Michigan Songwriters Guild, a group dedicated to advancing the craft in the Mid-Michigan area. Finally, Bob is making time to work on his own solo project, some of which you can hear at his MySpace page.

Click "read more" below for all of Bob Hausler's links.

Crashing Cairo Takes Center Stage for CD Release Party
faith148 writes:
Crashing Cairo Band PhotoMembers of Crashing Cairo have played with some big names including Kid Rock and The Verve Pipe, but now the band takes center stage to celebrate the release of their new Monday Changed Everything album on Friday, February 8 at The Magic Bag in Ferndale. Crashing Cairo friends Ether Aura, who have just released their Semblence EP, bring their new, stripped-down Americana sound to the party while Island recording artist The Satin Peaches and Us vs. Her round out the bill.

With their rich keyboards, thick, reverbed guitars and melodic vocals, Crashing Cairo has often been compared to bands such as Coldplay. But on Monday Changed Everything, their new sound takes a raw, dirty approach. Imagine Radiohead, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, R.E.M. and Nirvana in a blender.

MB Welcomes Gun Shot Amy
Gun Shot AmyMichiganbands.com would like to welcome Gun Shot Amy, as self-described punk/indie/screamo band from Owosso, Mi.  This young trio is comprised of Sean Woodsworth on guitar/vocals and screams,  Jordan Sovis on percussion, piano and screams and Jordan Erwin on bass  - who apparently doesn't scream.  Always on the prowl for that next gig, the band has included an easy to use e-mail form on their myspage page for anyone in need of a supporting act on their bill.  In the meantime, Gun Shot Amy will be participating in the Owosso Battle of The Bands to take place on January 18th.  We wish them luck and welcome them to MB.  Oh yeah, you can also find Gun Shot Amy in our Original Artists/ power pop & punk category in the "Band Links" section.

Bogdon Box on Bass Player TV
Chris Badynee's Bogdon Box Bass has been making its rounds and this time has landed on the virtual doorstep of Bass Player TV,  the net extension of Bass Player Magazine which recently featured the Bogdon in its "New Gear" section.  Managing editor Greg Olwell takes the Bogdon Box out for a slow shufffle just to see if this cardboard upright really has the goods.  There are three videos available on the site including "Construction" in which he walks you through the steps necessary to create the cardboard bass; "Materials" which points out the various features of the bass, including its "weed-wacker line" strings and double-sided taped inducer pick-up, and "Demo", where you get to see the bass in action.
