..."a little hostile"?...."neo-nazis"?....sometimes it seems to me that those of us in the "working class" tend to use OUR postions as an excuse to ***** & complain & 'pee all over the parade' ...of course NO ONE is without some "-ISM" or another that would piss SOMEONE off under the right circumstances, but COME ON, Mitch...give a 'working-girl' a break...I myself am of Native American, Hispanic & Irish descent & a WOMAN...as you so distastfully pointed out with the "marrying rich" phase of this rant...I UNDERSTAND your feelings about 'exclusivity', but I didn't see any burning crosses on the Country Club grounds...& the members were NOT ALL 'white'! I don't think there is anything 'wrong' with people hanging out with other people 'like' themselves whom they have interests & opportunities in common with & I also don't think it is 'wrong' for people in clubs, of whatever nature, to choose who they allow 'in'. I DON'T agree with the idea that some are 'The Chosen' or that they are 'better' than 'regular' people....but I DO believe that it is as much THEIR right to 'separate' from the crowd
as it anybodys! I think your free=speech & mine are still safe in Oakland County, Mitch....I don't think most 'Country Clubbers' really sit around worrying about what anyone is saying about THEM...No, they are tasting wines & sitting on the patio at the Club, listening to the beautiful Jazz singer they hired for the evening...they were very nice to me & my long-haired piano player & we earned what we deserve for a change thanks to their generosity! |
