Re: SUPPORT YOUR BLUES MEN AND WOMEN (Score: 1) by HardAcher on Thursday, November 03, 2005 @ 21:05:42 EST (User Info | Send a Message) | I was lucky enough to see Randy Volin and James Cloyd (in Randy's Band) play at CJ Mahoney's some 6 odd months ago...They rocked the place...VERY entertaining.
Personally, I saw nothing wrong with the show at all!
Our band ( strictly a rock act) played there the following week and then a couple more after that . We did very well there, according to the club and from the response of the crowd. However, CJ Mahoney's stopped having entertainment because they didn't want to give up any table space to any bands where patrons could be sitting and buying drinks (yes, they told us that)....hmmmm
Anyway, I would assume here the long and short of is "possibly" people are tried of hearing 1-4-5 (and any variation thereof)
repeated over and over. I see blues band that DON'T do this all night, and keep it interesting by changing up the melody, being versatile in short.
Maybe in addition, the problem is the bands that ARE verastile (or were, cause they're "finished" now) are called "blues bands". One thing for certain, I'll never stop loving the blues.
Just a thought...
