As
part of the Zippo Hot Tour contest, Detroit rock band 60 Second Crush
will be opening for buzz heavy national act Abloom at St. Andrew’s Hall on
Saturday, June 12. So far, over 800 bands from eight cities entered the music
competition, vying for the title of “Zippo’s Hot Band”. Heavy
crunching 60 Second Crush and local band Autoreverse both landed coveted opening
slots in Detroit as part of the contest process. From approximately June 15 through August 15, 2004, Zippo will be posting the entry materials for each qualifying band on their website www.zippohottour.com for public viewing, streaming, downloading and voting. Visitors to the website will vote for "hot" bands in each market, based on their preferences/taste in music and the voting rules posted on the website.
Abloom features former members of Soulfly, Snot and OnesideZero and are executive produced by Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down. The Los Angeles based quintet are currently the focus of major national industry buzz, and according to LA Weekly, ‘poised to coax hard rock from its corporate slumber.”
Detroit’s 60 Second Crush, cranks out a lethal mix of killer guitar crunch, thumpin' grooves and balls-out punk intensity. With smoking showcases at the prestigious SXSW music conference, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame under their belt, 60 Second Crush is currently touring in support of their independently released CD "Scratch.” Recently, the band’s single "Sister Suicide" was featured in the Sci Fi Channels' "Hulk: The Low Down."
