On Friday, April 23rd, former member of Tupac's Outlawz, Napoleon will be performing at Bleu Room Experience in Detroit to raise money for books for Detroit youth. Since Tupac's fateful passing, the hip-hop singer has been inspired to transform his own life by giving up smoking, drinking and television to concentrate on reading three to four hours a day and to work on his forthcoming double-release which will be produced by Johnny-J ("How Do U Want it", "Hit Em Up", and "All About U"). Click "read more" below. All the proceeds from this charity event will go to 'purchase books for Detroit youth', according to the press release. Napoleon and his supporters from 662.com believe in promoting self-education through reading to Detroit youth whose education system, they believe, has failed them. From the Det313.com charity page:
'The future of the world is in the hands of the youth. It's important to expose them to the power of self education early in their lives. By giving them books that might be of interest to them and letting them explore these books on their own time, learning will become enjoyable. Only then will the youth have an eagerness to learn and set their minds free from the narrow halls they are pushed down in the current education system.'
The event is being organized and promoted by Jeffrey Kupiec at www.Det313.com. The site also promotes the hip-hop group Aman and DJ Marquis "Personally, I'm on a mission to make the world a better place by holding events like this," said Kupiec. "If anyone wants a piece of building Detroit up - hit me back."
