When a fellow musician falls on hard times you can either sit back and do nothing or use your talents to help pick the fallen comrade back up. Banding together to help one another is what keeps the music scene united. On Thanksgiving weekend, six bands will perform at a benefit for the infamous local musician and scenester, BOOTSEY X. He started out in the legendary but short-lived Ramrods (on drums!) before fronting his own bands, most recently performing as frontman for The Lovemasters. Bootsey's brand of flash and trash rock n'roll has captivated audiences for decades. Always backed by some of the finest local musicians, Bootsey and the boys brought raw power to every show. The Benefit for Bootsey X is Friday, November 28th at 8pm at 313.jac /Jacoby's located at 624 Brush St. in Detroit. Donation is $8, 21 and over are invited. Performing will be: THE FONDAS, THE SHANKS, THE COCKTAIL SHAKE, THE EARWORMS, THE POLISH MUSLIMS, THE EX-MUTANTS, DANNY & MARGARET DOLLROD and local music scribe, Brian Smith will DJ the night. Bands and friends will also donate CDs etc. to be sold for the cause.
