What is Stick Night? It's an eclectic evening of musical performances by some of the world's top players of the Chapman Stick, a unique musical instrument that combines guitar and bass into one instrument that's played by tapping strings with both hands. This is the showcase of the 2003 Midwest Stick Seminar.

Every year, instructional seminars are held worldwide. The Midwest Stick Seminar started in '98, continues this year the weekend of Nov. 7-9th with performances at various locations. The annual Michigan Stick Night is the highlight of the seminar and showcases not only the top stick musicians, but their students as well.

The 2003 Midwest Stick Seminar featured performers:

Greg Howard-A veteran stick player since '85, author of "The Stick Book", recorded several CDs and recorded and toured with the Dave Matthews Band.

Tom Greisgraber-A graduate of the Berklee School of Music and one of San Diego's hardest working musicians.

Jim Lampi-Is one of the pioneers of The Stick, taught by the founder himself. He has performed with the Jerry Garcia Band among others.

Glenn Poorman-This native Detroit musician organizes the Midwest Stick Seminars and Stick Night. He is an avid spokesman for the instrument.

Steve Osburn-Is the owner of Oz' Music in Ann Arbor, the only dealer of sticks in the Midwest. He is the founder of the Midwest Stick Seminar.

Gary Jibilian- The Midwest's foremost player of the NS/Stick, a hybrid instrument crossing the the Stick with an 8-string bass co-designed by Emmett Chapman and Ned Steinberger.
