You'd love to have more people hear your music. You're trying to reach a broader audience. You want to advertise, but don't have a lot of cash. Sound familiar? The Salem-South Lyon District Library is reaching out to area musicians. The library is building a Local Artists Music Collection and is asking musicians in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Ontario to join.
Bands are asked to donate their CDs as well as promotional items to the library. In return, the library will make the items available for patrons to check out. A new musician will be highlighted each week and a concert series is being discussed.
The library would like patrons listen to new artists and new types of music. No genre will be turned away however, there are requirements that all CDs must meet. All donations must be professional quality and include liner notes. Albums containing excessive swearing will not be taken and all albums will be listened to by a member of the library staff.
If you have any questions, contact Holly Hibner, Mary Kelly, or Christine Ayar at 248-437-6431 or email Holly Hibner at hhibner@tln.lib.mi.us.
