If you can't seem to drag your weary butt out of the house to see The Brother's Groove live and in the flesh, then we've got just the thing for you couch potatoes who live in the Royal Oak / Ferndale area. The Brother's Groove are appearing on WROK's "City Beat" on CH 55 (Comcast) and channel 10 (WOW) for the entire month of April.

City Beat is a local government cable entertainment program that focuses on premier musical and artistic talent in the Detroit area. The Brother's Groove are the first band to appear on the hour-long show which features many live performances from their latest release and extensive interviews with the band. Future shows will feature Dearborn alt/country natives and Detroit Music Award nominees, The Wrenfields (due to air in May) and the pop-artist Niagara.

The show is hosted by The Reefermen's James Wailin' and WROK volunteer Susy Vestevich and is taped at 5Th Avenue Billiards in Royal Oak during the day. The show takes advantage of WROK's brand new, state of the art mobile recording truck which allows for a five-camera shoot and much improved audio reproduction.

City Beat's producer, our very own "Distortion Dave" Kupczak (a.k.a. Napoleon K), says the show helps fulfill a life-long dream. "I've always wanted to blend my passion for music with my experience in audio and video production," said Kupczak, a graduate of The Specs Howard School of Broadcasting and owner of Extreme Digital Audio. "I've been recording bands for years, but it's great to see all the elements come together on the tube."

"City Beat" featuring "The Brothers Groove" will air as follows:
Tuesdays at 5p.m. and 11 p.m.
Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Be sure to set your VCR.

City Beat may also air on Friday, Saturday and Sunday before, after or in-between Hockey Nite in Royal Oak and The Royal Oak City Commission meetings (apparently local music isn't exactly a priority - call to complain!). Check the rolling calendar between features for a clue.

If You're Interested in volunteering for WROK TV shoots call (248) 246-3777. No experience necessary!
