"This is a wonderful outlet for acoustic music lovers in West Michigan to experience the magic of world-class musicians like Dana Cooper and David Hardin." said Bob DeCocq, the festival's producer. "It's also a great way to not only hear but also support the wealth of local talent our area has to offer, all in a relaxed, open-air setting. With such an incredible line-up of acoustic ability, it is no doubt one of the musical highlights of the summer in West Michigan."
The festival, so named because it takes place on the Driftwood's large back deck, began last summer as a way to bring together local and national talent in a festival-like setting. Already the event has nearly doubled in size, with the addition this year of Hardin and a third local act as well as several area business sponsors. This year's line-up includes:
2 p.m. - Roger Harcourt
3 p.m. - Drew Nelson
4 p.m. - David Hardin
5:45 p.m. - Dana Cooper
7:30 p.m. - The Music Club
Last year's event was filled to capacity, drawing several hundred people, and this year's is expected to do the same. Besides music, "Back Deck Acoustic Music Fest" also features an outdoor barbeque, drink specials, and a beautiful West Michigan sunset served up along the banks of the Muskegon River. The Driftwood Bar & Grill is located at 7456 Croton-Hardy Dr. in Newaygo, Michigan. The event is free and open to the public. For more information call 231-652-2686 or go to www.wyce.org
