Welcome to another edition of MBlurbs. This time we catch up with Radiocraft at the Stars & Stripes fest in Mt. Clemens, just in time for tear-down. Ronnie gives me the 311 on Joey Bowen's return from the left-coast and the General Clusterfunk reunion. Jay informs us that it's a Blind Shame that band doesn't exist anymore, but three-fifths of a broken-ass band make for a Bulletproof Moxie. Click "read more" below. |
Just missed Radiocraft's performance at The Stars & Stripes Festival in Mt. Clemens. But I did manage to snap a pic or two and catch-up with the latest band gossip. Radiocraft is settling-in nicely with new drummer Chris Castro (Well Without, Simple Neptune, Through the Glass) who filled Danny Alcini's spot, but they're still looking for a 2nd guitar to take over for Ronnie Alcini - who'd better have a damn good excuse for thinking about leaving this band! ; ) Guitarist/Songwriter Kevin Breslin tells me the Radiocraft has long-since finished recording at the legendary London Bridge Studios in Seattle with grammy-nominated producer Rick Parasher (Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi, 3 Doors Down, Nickleback). They'll be releasing their latest EP sometime late summer/fall '07 when they've worked out the promotional details. There will be seven tracks on the new EP which will include four rockers, one acoustic number and re-edited versions of both "Bakersfield" and "Red" (now available on Myspace.com/radiocraft). Can't wait to have it in my hands. Speaking of band gossip, Ronnie Alcini tipped me off that reputed Mark Farner spawn Joey Bowen is back in town and has re-formed General Clusterfunk (watch out Flophouse and Funkillinium!). I checked it out and sure enough the veteran funksters were spotted at The Machine Shop on June 16th and are currently hawking a re-release of their CD "Starin' Straight At The Sun" which includes 3 "bonus" tracks: "Bud Green", "God Only Knows" and "Rain on Me", all recorded in 1994. They will also be releasing a compilation DVD of GC performances, recording and rehearsal footage and more! No word yet if they're going to add more shows. Stay tuned. Check 'em out at Myspace.com/generalclusterfunkdetroit Jay Arnold informed us that three-fifths of Blind Shame have reformed to create a new quartet called Bulltetproof Moxie. The band consists of Jason Smith on Bass,
Chad "Gravity" Goklani-on lead guitar,
Jay Arnold on guitar and
Ian Tavella on Drums. The band has already has two new songs and you can find them at Myspace.com/bulletproofmoxie. But if you'd like to relive the glory daze, there's very limited supply of Blind Shame's CD "All N Compass". You can get one by sending an e-mail to blindshame@blindshame.com |
