THE ONE & ONLY “POLKA FLOYD” RETURNS TO DETROIT!
Date: Sunday, April 08, 2007 @ 13:25:44 MDT
Topic: Press Release

After a fine Detroit debut performance at 313.jac/Jacoby’s earlier this year Toledo’s own POLKA FLOYD, “Pink Floyd done Polka style” tribute band makes a return show to the city on Saturday, April 28 at the Cadieux Café. POLKA FLOYD is the side project of native Detroiter Ken Haas who lends his guitar and vocals to this unique band. Ken has played in many bands throughout his music career including The Culture Bandits, The Hoolapoppers, Kids from Krypton and most recently plays in The Zimmerman Twins. Cick "read more" below.

This project came about after Ken and fellow Toledo musicians from the nationally renowned polka band Crusade got together after their cover band dissolved. Messing around at a rehearsal playing Pink Floyd covers, they added a twist and formed this new band and played their first gig in their hometown to an enthusiastic sold out crowd.

POLKA FLOYD pays tribute to Pink Floyd in their own way and features the classic material from the band, performing the “Dark Side of the Moon” album in its entirety. Other songs also featured include “Comfortably Numb” the first song they covered together in the band. Since their last performance, they have added songs from the Syd Barrett period to the set.

Also performing this evening is another unique tribute act called Eastside Elvis and the Motor City Mafia. While their name suggests an Elvis tribute, their music is covers of Elvis gone punk. The night promises to be as different as the bands themselves!

The show is Saturday, April 28 at 10pm at the Cadieux Cafe located at 4300 Cadieux in Detroit. 21 & over are welcome, doors are at 9pm and cover is $5. For directions call 313-882-8560.
