Well, It's official. We've lost another local favorite indie act to a major label! According to a recent e-mail, our our very own (ok, maybe that's going a bit far) Ty Stone has been picked up by Kid Rock's Top Dog Records and will celebrate his good fortune at 5th Avenue Downtown on Thursday, December 15th. If you recall, Ty kept us informed here at Michiganbands.com back when he was getting famous the old-fashioned way - gigging his ass off on the road and in Los Angeles. Click "read more" below. According to a Ty's MySpace Blog dated November 9th, 2005 the deal with Top Dog was already 'signed and sealed' by then. He chose some of his close friends from The Inside Outlaws to perform at the party, including Doop and Skott Kinson.
We read back in April on MCR that Ty was hanging around with Kid Rock at 313Jac for the MC2 kickoff party but we didn't know if they were getting serious or if it was just a summer fling. You know how rock stars can be. But sure enough, if you surf over to Kid Rock's Links Page, you'll notice that Ty Stone Music now has the pole position and appears with links to Paradime and Uncle Cracker.
Ty's currently working on his major label debut at 'the bosses studio' and according to his EzBoard Blog he's invited long-time L.A. collaborator Brian Irwin to help out. No word yet on who will be on the record or who will be performing at the signing party, but Stone promises some special guests and surprises.
The Ty Stone Top Dog Records Signing Party wll take place at 5th Avenue Downtown @ Comerica Park on Thursday, December 15th. Door at 9:00 pm, 21 and over. Get there early.
We'd like to congratulate Ty Stone on his good fortune and wish him continued good luck, good health and great music in the future. We can't wait for the world to find out what we already know. Make sure you stop by Ty's Forum and congratulate him yourself.
