Jam Rag Magazine has been a music scene fixture in Detroit for the past 20 years. At one time or another just about every local band has been featured in the newsprint pages. One of Detroit’s only music magazines, the free publication has survived on funding from ads, benefits and sustainer donations.

The magazine recently had a long overdue upgrade to a more focused and modern appearance. Even with its’ new outlook the magazine still needs funds to continue publishing. Local music veteran and curator of the Detroit Music Archives- Anison Roberts aka;The Impaler organized a benefit to help the cause. “Musicians need a mag like Jam Rag, it’s like networking without the travel” says organizer, The Impaler.

313.jac is upstairs at Jacoby’s located at 624 Brush St. in Detroit. 21 and over welcome. 313-962-7067.
