Melodic rockers Penumbrae recently finished their debut full length release, One Way Drive, to be released on Third Monk Records Saturday, May 21st.In August 2004, Penumbrae began working with Third Monk producer/engineer Jeff Robinson (Toad the Wet Sprocket, American Music Club, The Rembrandts). Recording commenced at Ferndale's famed Tempermill Studios in September and finished in the spring of 2005. To retain the depth and warmth of their live sound, Robinson and the band recorded the basic tracks on analog tape, overdubbing digitally and then mixing down to analog masters.
The record reveals the group fully formed, it's mature, emotional lyricism coupled with high-level musicianship. Evident throughout the material is a cohesive band vibe - a group with strong chemistry among the musicians. On top of this, lead singer Lish's soaring, polished vocals guide the listener through the work's tight rock songs and emotional ballads. With large crossover potential, One Way Drive will appeal not only to AAA rock music fans, but also to Americana and country folk listeners.
To celebrate the release of One Way Drive, Penumbrae is throwing a CD release party at Karl's Country Cabin in Plymouth on Saturday, May 21st. Karl's is located on Gotfredson Rd. just north of M-14. The party starts at 9pm. Admission if $5.
