| Oblivion to Celebrate Sophomore Release |
|
“The biggest sin in life and music is being a bore.” So begins a hidden track on local rock group Oblivion’s second full-length album, The Garden in the Machine, which the band plans to debut on Thursday February 5, 2004 at Ann Arbor’s Blind Pig. The CD release party promises to be one of the best local rock shows of the year, featuring performances from Ann Arbor progressive rock virtuosos De Novo and Inner Recipe as well as a special appearance by New York City hard rock touring band, Eve to Adam.
Certainly not a bore, the record, which is the band’s first to be released by New York independent record label Audiokio Productions (www.audiokio.com), is an artful assortment of modern progressive rock themes with influences ranging from At the Drive-In to Tool. While the album’s guitar-driven rock music is catchy at points, its constantly shifting time signatures, vocal acrobatics and timely pedal board effects make the CD a sonic and emotional roller coaster that culminates in operatic fashion.
Admission for the show will be $5.00 for patrons 21 and over and $7.00 for underage guests. Oblivion is a progressive rock band that has been a staple of the Ann Arbor music scene since forming in September of 2000.
