Several hundred people came out for the Detroit TourBaby (www.tourbaby.com) show at the BullFrog to celebrate music, life, and to party! For the Detroit show, we teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to raise funds for Tom Prim, a 16 year old who has MD. Tom was there with his family and friends and signed the TourBaby "Baby" as part of our celebration.
Thank you to the bands; a very talented and good-hearted group of people. Thanks also to Jim, Brad, our sound engineer, and the ladies from the BullFrog for helping us to make this such a great event (www.BullFrogRocks.com). Special thanks to Molly Flannery for shooting the official show photographs (www.HotRockShots.com) and the MichiganBands.com party crew.
The Bands:
City Folk (www.City-Folk.com)
Our tag band from Toronto, Canada (the virtual TourBaby show). Detroit welcomed our new friends from Canada with...beer and appreciation for their music, of course! Chad and Jay played a good acoustic set that covered their original music as well as some tasty covers. We were all enjoying their music and their dry sense of humor (it's all about girls!) when they started to play...acoustic covers of Eminem and Kid Rock?! Now that took balls! And it worked. Staying on to party for the rest of the night with their friends before heading back to Canada (with a 4 hour drive) they certainly represented Canada well.

Bringing their unplugged set to the TourBaby show (dual acoustic guitars), these guys could be backed by a single drumstick and still sound great. With infectious power pop honed during the Warped Tour and SXSW, check out their CD "The Finger" to get a taste of what we heard in Detroit.
83rd Dream (www.83rdDream.com)
And then there was 83rd Dream. Taking time out from recording their next CD: Jeff, Jason, and Jim put "the power" back into rock music. Although their influences span a wide variety of music, 83rd Dream definitely has their own awesome sound. I’m a big fan of the Cult; and Ian and Billy are probably kicking themselves for not writing some of 83rd Dream's music. An awesome set. All I can say is that I can't wait for their next CD!
Jackie Blue (www.JackieBlue.com)
After properly hydrating ourselves with beer, Jack Daniels, and Detroit river water, we were up next. Call our music what you will: Funk Rock, Funk 'n Roll, Rock, Stone, Pebble. Suffice to say: we had a great time!
Velkro (www.Velkro.com
Brandon, Dave, Mike, and Thom put on their classic high-energy show. I'm now convinced that they can smoothly segue into any song by simply passing telepathic messages. It's 1:00am and people can't get enough of Velkro’s energy, that's how entertaining they are.
See you in Columbus, Ohio!

Columbus musician brings national tour to local bands
A group of local musicians will participate in a national tour with an Oct. 23 Columbus show called Tourbaby.
The national tour crosses the country featuring the talents of local independent artists who help push the tour to each successive city in a relay race format.
"It's a tag team sort of tour structured like a traditional tour moves across the country yet it features local artists," said Jeffrey Altergott, a local musician organizing the Columbus stop of Tourbaby.
"This year the tour started in Florida. A band from the Miami show opened the second show on the tour and so forth."
By the time the tour gets to Columbus, Jackie Blue from Detroit will launch the local show. The Columbus show will feature Altergott, Donna Mogavero and Katie Reider. Altergott then will go to Chicago to open the next Tourbaby show there.
