FERNDALE, Mich. - Tripper announced today that the band has hired Robert Carr to fill its vacant bassist position.
Carr, from Centerline, Mich., joins the band after 11 years performing with Most Wanted - a prominent Mid-Western country band.
"It's been a while since Most Wanted split up, and I was looking for something totally different that was moving up in the industry. To find a band like Tripper was quite a surprise," Carr said. "I'm looking forward to some big things with this band."
Carr officially joined the band in early June, but the band delayed the announcement until preparations for upcoming shows were complete. Tripper acknowledged that the search took longer than expected.
Steve Taylor, bassist for the band Five Days Straight, played with Tripper during the search.
"Having Taylor around was a big help. He's become a good friend and we'll certainly miss playing with him," said tripper vocalist/guitarist Frank Buscemi.
"There are a lot of bassists out there, but you have to really look to find the person that is going to mesh well with not only the tunes, but the guys in the band," said guitarist/vocalist Steve Marvicsin. "We took our time and we believe that we have found the right guy for the job."
"Rob can handle himself, there's no question about that," said drummer/vocalist Ken Thomas. "We wanted someone who could step right in on the songs and add some backing vocals. He clearly fits the bill."
Tripper returns to the stage this Friday, July 11 at the Rock Room in Mt. Clemens, Mich., and follows it up with a private show on July 12 and the Motor City Music Festival in Trenton, Mich. on July 13.
Other summer shows include:
- July 16 - Memphis Smoke - Royal Oak, Mich.
- Aug. 14 - Union Street Station - Traverse City, Mich.
- Aug. 15 - The Magic Bag - Ferndale, Mich.
