Fourth Annual Jingle Bell Jam December 2nd
cherri writes Strap on your dancing shoes for the Fourth Annual Jingle Bell Jam, December 2rd, at the Civic Club on 9th St. in Manistee.  Doors open at 6 and the live entertainment starts at 7:00.  Four local bands will rock the halls in coordination with the Holiday Hope Team, FiveCap, WMTE, the Manistee Chamber of Commerce, the Civic Club, and others.  All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Toys for Tots / Gifts for Teens program in Manistee County.  Admission to the concert is one new, unwrapped toy or cash donation.  All ages are welcome.  There will be a cash bar for the over-21 guests.   Last year’s event drew great crowds and collected over 300 toys, and over $500 in cash donations!  Click "read more" below for details on the line-up. Concert Schedule:

7:00 PM:  Cherri & the Violators: signature originals blur the line between blues and rock. The Benzie/Manistee County-based band labels their music "contemporary blues," and you have to hand it to them: they have succeeded in slapping the paddles on the old zombie blues and reviving it as their own personal creation with songwriting that is exceptionally strong.”
Robert Downes, Northern Express Standout guitarist Tony Burke, vocalist/guitarist Cheryl Bendig, bassist/vocalist Paul Bendig and drummer Hank Cupp complete the band.  CNV Band receives regular airplay on WYCE, WGVU, KMOD, KVRM, Fat Cat online radio, and others.  They are currently at work on a third CD, taking to the studio in February 07.

7:45 PM: Ideal Balance is based out of Bear Lake.  Andy Allen, an Onekama High School student, plays guitar and sings backup vocals.  Bear Lake student Marty Yaple plays guitar and sings. Mike Bobian, also of Bear Lake, plays drums. These friends played together off and on until January, 2005. The bands first show was at the Bear Lake school dance in April, 2005. The guys were a huge hit and the band decided they needed to record some songs because people wanted to hear more of the band. Their second show ever was at the Sunshine Cafe in Bear Lake. The future holds great things for Ideal Balance. They have gotten some recognition in the local music scene and hope to be playing more shows soon.

8:30 PM: Big  Mont:  “Little is know about musician "Big Mont" as he does not grant interviews.  He prefers to keep a low, mysterious profile.  Those that have seen him perform as a solo artist are often inspired themselves to don an aura of well being, and experience an overwhelming  desire to quench their thirst.  It is rumored that Big Mont learned to play the guitar as a wee lad by locking himself in his bedroom and watching "The Monkees" television program re-runs.  Many fans have been mesmerized by Mont's seductive string stylization. The sweet and sultry sounds of his many blues harps (harmonicas)  drip like honey on the listeners' emotions. Gutsy vocal renderings of fabled blues tunes and pop ballads are what the congregation will come to hear, and sing along with. “

9:30 PM The Rock Supply:  The Rock Supply is a three-piece ROCK band.  All members are Manistee natives.  Band members are Todd Virta (bass and lead vocals), Steve Wheeler (guitar and vocals),  and Randy Pepera (drums and vocals).  All three enjoy playing a wide variety of rock music from the 60s to today’s modern rock.  Todd Virta is also the creative force behind the originals the band is introducing to their arsenal of rock.  “It has been nothing but fun from the very beginning,” says drummer Randy Pepera, “The band’s playing schedule increases every year and we would like to thank all the people that have supported the band over the past 8 ½ years.”  This will be the fourth year the band has volunteered for the Jingle Bell Jam.
