(PRWEB) -- Jackie Blue, a rock band based in Detroit and well
known for their community work, has partnered with CDBaby.com and the American
Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. All profits from the sale of our
CDs purchased through CDBaby.com
will go to the American Red Cross.
Tom Libertiny, Jackie Blue's bass player and a native of Florida, understands
all too well what the people are going through--from the first hit of Katrina in
Florida to the devastation along the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, and
Alabama. "Growing up in Florida, I was aware of the damage caused by hurricanes
especially by the flooding water, but I've never seen anything like what we're
now witnessing."He went on to say that, "while communicating with friends about ways to help
the survivors of Katrina, one suggested that our song 'City Nights' seemed an
appropriate anthem for New Orleans: Carrie's vocals reflect the heartbreak of
people lost in the storm and its aftermath while the music reflects the hope for
a bright future for the people and city.
At the same time, he happened to receive an E-mail from Derek Sivers, the
founder of CDBaby.com (online music store) offering an easy method for musicians
to donate the proceeds from selling their CDs on CDBaby.com to the American Red
Cross. This sealed the deal for the band and now the profits that would normally
go to Jackie Blue will instead go directly to the American Red Cross to help the
victims of Hurricane Katrina.
To all of the people of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, we
dedicate our song "City Nights" to you.
