| Catalog Only Moves One Step Closer to Germany |
|
kgb writes After performing an energetic set in front of an electrified Alvin's crowd on January 8th, Catalog Only has successfully advanced to the Regional Semi-Finals of the
Emergenza Festival. The Magic Stick will be the site of the next round and is one of only 17 venues in the U.S. hosting Regional Semi-Final Rounds. The Semi-Finals will be held April 21st - May 1st,
and C.O will raze the stage April 21st at 9:30.
"We would like to thank everyone who attended the show, and their incredible support has helped put us one step closer to our goal," Catalog Only said. "We could really feel the energy of the crowd when we took the stage, and it fired us up. We fed off of their emotion, and it was awesome to be able match their intensity with our set."After Catalog Only concluded their 25-minute set, the enthusiastic audience rewarded them with more than enough votes to take home first-place honors for the evening's Preliminary Round. According to official figures obtained from Emergenza, Catalog Only is currently ranked in the Top 3% of the 1043 bands that have taken the stage across the globe thus far in Round One.
As the five members of Catalog Only emerged from backstage to greet their supporters, the buzz in the crowd was still apparent. "It was a phenomenal performance," exclaimed Melissa Petiprin of Waterford. "It is obvious that they are extremely passionate about their songs and they perform with such a high level of emotion you can literally feel the meaning behind every song."

This whole thing, this emergenza deal sounds like it's starting to mean alot to the band. Is it likely that the band will crumble? If they don't win this race. "STAY TUNED AS OUR CRUSADERS FACE THE UTLAMATE CHALLENGE!" isn't that the best thing in the world, that energy. I'd set aside the all the booze and dope just for that. It's too bad I can't be on stage all day long. How'd you get that name anyway? (not the kgb) the catalog only? (if you don't mind me asking) I saw your picture and said to myself 'hey i've seen that before' So um got any pics of the show? |

DETROIT KICKS OFF
The second week to begin on Jan 27th
The first weekend of 2005 started what may be a staple in the Detroit Music Scene. The Emergenza International Music Festival has started in Detroit and has hit the ground running.
As the public started to file into Alvin''s, in downtown Detroit, it was apparent that Emergenza was going to have a great start.
The kick-off night in Detroit saw many types of Rock advance to the upcoming round. Classic Detroit-style rock by The Brian Schram Band, modern hard rock by Osmus, frantic, blistering hardcore by Red I Flight, and the alternative sounds of Focal Point all secured spots in the semi-finals.
Friday night saw a massive turnout for the Festival''s second day. The large crowd was no doubt a major impact on the performances of Friday''s bands. Large vote figures determined which four bands would carry on. In the end it was the hard hitting rock of Well In Doubt, the very classic punk style of Hairy Drain Babies, the unique stageshow of Ghostyle (in picture), and the solid, melodic metal of Morphic coming out on top.
Saturday saw another impressive turnout. People lined up to buy tickets at the door and musical diversity could have been the theme for the night. Otto Vector''s vamp rock-electronica, Wake Up Call''s alternative rock, Funkilinium''s larger than life funk, and Catalog Only''s crowd engaging college rock where the audience favorites of the night.
By Sunday evening things were starting to slow down in Detroit. The first few bands had few people to play for. But as the night moved on the crowd size grew and the energy began to intensify. The brash, snarling metal of Guilty, the sultry blues pop of Liz Larin, the melodic rock of My Machine, and spaztic ska punk of Saint Thomas Boys Academy, were all winners at the weekend''s close.
They don''t call it Detroit Rock City for nothing. In a city that''s known for it''s musical exports, almost as well as its automobiles, it''s a no-brainer that a festival of this magnitude is going to be a huge success.
The last week of January will see four more concerts of the first round in Detroit.
If you have the means, come check it out!
