Are you really detroit's most innovative band? And do you think paying someone to be in a battle of the bands really warrants saying that you are on a journey to germany? Here's a secret, don't tell anyone. You can book a show at alvin's without paying. If anyone shows up, you will get paid. Imagine that.

Wow... I guess you guys aren't familiar with the Emergenza Festival. You're makin' this cat sound like an idiot, which actually, this is an opportunity to not only showcase their talents to huge crowds brought in by 8 different bands, but Detroit is only one of 122 locations in the world that this is going on. Prizes every show from sponsors like Music Man, Mapex, Crate, Ernie Ball and more, with possible "endorsement" opportunities. This is the first year in Detroit, and this is the 71st year of this event! There's no telling who's going to be in that audience, ie., agents, A&R cats, entertainment lawyers, managers, newspaper reporters, investors, venue owners, instrument manufacture reps, and new fans! Sometimes it's not a bad idea to kick out a little dough to have an opportunity to fulfill your dreams...

Finally someone puts this "MEATWAD" in his place. Well stated GT. Not only do you get prizes but all shows have to be played on sponsor provided equipment, which means you get an opportunity to play on some of the best stuff on the market today. What other gig do get to play on thousands of dollars worth of equipment right off the show room floor? Besides, just being signed up to play the festival has created more traffic to my website than a couple hundred dollar advertising campaign would. Oh but that’s right, you don't spend money, just cry if a venue or organization wants a small deposit to play. Well, sorry about your luck, maybe I'll drop by the garage one day to check you out.

Yea, when a band makes a claim like "the best" or misleading statements. I lean not to like them. It's good to be humble until you hit mainstreem, because it's mere opinion. A shot in the dark just to get someone to read, or check it out. Is lame and offensive to the intellegence of well versed musicans. If your really that innovated the music does all your advertising for you. If you want someone to hear you don't make slap happy comments about how great you are.People who check out your stuff on line are just plain surffers like myself. I check it out just to check it out, but it hurts the credability of the band if they overstate themselfs.

I went to listen. Scale of 1 to 5 about a solid 2+. They might do something if they keep at it.

I think this is just an example of what a drag it can be to produce an effective press release - especially for a site whose traffic is primarily other musicians. You're a tough bunch.

The tendency is to play it up, up, up and heap on the self-aggrandizement. But the effect ends up sounding amateur and insincere - which their music is not (btw- I like the introductory paragraph on their website and the track "luminous" - both of which sound sincere).

For example, I wouldn't have used the phrase "devotion to creating unique material" in the same paragraph where I listed my various influences - it's a contradiction. Phrases & clauses like "thrilled crowds" and "powerful and innovative" are best left to review quotes that are attributed to specific persons.

It's very difficult to write something that makes people genuinely curious about your music - curious enough to get off their asses and drive down to Alvins. These days you almost have to promise, "Our bass player will pull a flaming drumstick out of his ass, LIVE!" to get anybody's attention for more than thirty seconds (thank you Fear Factor).

But then again, they DID get over 300 hits on their story. Maybe they knew exactly what they were doing to get attentioin on MB. ; )

I'm very sorry. I didn't mean to overstate myself. Like some headlines do, but your right. I wish you all the best of luck. I'm glad to see a group like your on the seen. I do advertisements, and when I first started on the job I was instructed not to judge my own product before others do. Hey, I learn from this myself, and I like what some have said here. Instead of the idea of "site hits" think of them 'chart hits'. You guys could do it... Hell, type in something absolutle crazy that you could do on stage. Maybe not the drumstick thing, but get 'em talkin about you to there buddys, and again I apologize.

where and when for the next gig? I am click happy on the mouse, but I don't see anything. I also hope it's not to far from Auburn hills. I know "meatwad" had his words outside of the drama 1 through 5 what does he think of the music itself? 1 through 5 will do. terrable words will not serve well (i.e. personal attacks) This is my final input on the article.Thank you for the insite. It's been great.
