Well, this is a very special day indeed. Michiganbands.com would like to give a extra-special welcome to our latest band links submission, Mark Farner (original artists/modern classic rock). For those of you who may be too young to remember or not quite versed in the annals of classic rock history, Mark Farner was the lead singer/songwriter and guitarist for a Grand Funk Railroad - one of the bands who helped put Michigan on the map with songs like "I'm Your Captain", "American Band", "Foot Stompin' Music" and turned classic covers into mega-hits like "Some Kind Of Wonderful" & "The Loco-Motion". Mark went on to write more hits on his own and created The Mark Farner Group which is still pumping out great music and touring to this day. I caught Mark Farner's performance at Mt. Clemen's Stars & Stripes festival last June and, just like Iggy, you'd never know that thirty years had passed - amazing performance! In 2006, Mark Farner - The Rock Patriot released "For The People", the first full-length record he'd released in more than a decade and proof that he's just as fresh and topical as ever. - Mitch

********MICHIGAN ASS KICKIN' ROCK'n ROLL*MICHIGAN ASS KICKIN' ROCK'n ROLL********
YEAH! This is a great place for Mark Farner! Michigan Bands/Michigan's Best! This is one SPECIAL Michigan Musician too! This month he drove down to Flint to play a send off song for Doug Pullen's retirement at Jester's Lounge!
I go to every show I possibly can get to within the semi-civilized lands! [That includes Detroit and Toledo]
I've seen for myself that Mark still has that Rock' n Roll Soul and his voice has seasoned well without losing it's power or tone! And with his band "N'rG"[energy] those timeless conscientious words blast out sounding just like Grand Funk Railroad in a Hard Rock direction! Funny how the lyrics Mark wrote in the 60's & 70's are as significant now as they were then!!!
Don't miss these guys this Summer...Request they play everywhere...the set-list will blow you away! He has even asked us fans to vote on two tunes that we would like added to the set-list! The New generation along with the old...Vintage Funk and New "For The People" tunes will work...Get to the website and request some of that, as Mark put it: MiChIgAnAssKiCkIn'RoCk-N-RoLL

Mark Farner is a legend. His current band Nr'G is high energy rock at its best. He is still creating great new material. The new CD "For The People" is one of the best rock-n-roll recordings released last year.
Grand Funk Railroad has been one of my Biggest Influences... As a Young Adult one of my Fathers employees gave me Grand Funk Live and Gimmie Shelter and My Life was never the same... Mark's Voice still remains one of the most original in Music History and I can not say enough about The Music... Don Brewers Drumming became part of my every day Musical Landscape and put me on The Path to Real Drumming done Michigan Style... And Mel set the standard for Bass Players the world over... Long Live Grand Funk Railroad...
