| Luke Sayers Says: They Don't Want Me |

Not cool enough for the Detroit music scene? Can't get invited to all the right parties or get to play at all the right clubs? Having difficulty getting those well-insulated Detroit rags to write about you or even take you seriously? Well you're in good company bandheads. Inspired by yet another night of playing to the backs of a crowd of uninterested musicians and bar staff, acoustic rootsman Luke Sayers penned a funky little number called, "They Don't Want Me" which is currently available for a free download at his website. Click "read more" below for more of the story and the links.
From Luke Sayers Blog:
I wrote this song while waiting my turn to play at what was billed as a songwriter contest in a local Ferndale bar. As the night unfolded, I soon began to realize that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time once again in my hometown. It is always discouraging when you're siting in a room full of fellow musicians/songwriters and you find yourself playing to everyone's back. Even the host of this event couldn't pay attention long enough to know when each individual's set was ending...and this person was also the judge!(read more "Exclusive New Music" @ Luke Sayer's Blog

"They Don't Want Me" was captured live in the studio of WNMC in Traverse City on the “Folk Aire” program which aires on Tuesdays at at 8pm on 90.7 fm. The song was performed by Luke Sayers on nylon string guitar/lead vocal, Mark Iannace on accordion/harmony vocal, and Mike Gabelman on percussion.
Luke Sayers will be performing live at Club Bart on Tuesday, July 24th.
