jackieblue writes " Websites are fun and everything, but have you ever wondered who or what is behind the Michigan Bands website in real life? Is it the huge Walmart Corporation? Jeffrey Skilling and Ken Lay from Enron? The Google guys? In fact half of the dynamic duo who runs this website is Rick Allen -- who's just a Big Baby. Or more accurately, part of the band "The Big Babies."
You may know Rick, Troy, Roni, and Mark from their past lives as one of the top cover bands. But now their friends and family have given them permission slips to write their own music -- and it's damn good. How do we know? Click "read more" below.
Well we just performed with them at the Motor Music Festival and they played a very tight set from their new CD plus some classic cover songs. We couldn't get enough of their show so we're doing it all again with an amped up sound and vision show as they officially release their new CD "Nothing to Cry About."
All of these guys sing and write, and yes, Troy does sound like Fred from the B-52s when he wants to. Actually, Troy has the same sense of humor as well.
So why would you want to go see these guys? Because they're fun to watch, to listen to, and their sense of humor comes through in their original music. What other band would have a line item on their CD crediting Roni, Rick, Troy, and Mark for "Hand Claps" on the song "A Boy To A Man."
Oh, and don't forget to yell out "You're a Bunch of Big Babies!!" at the end of their set. They just love that line. Check out the man behind the Michigan Band's curtain on June 10th.
