Local drummer featured in Modern Drummer Magazine
jupo writes

Eric Fischer of Radar Pilot does Buddy RichDetroit native drummer, Eric Fischer, has a page feature on him in the April edition of Modern Drummer Magazine.  Eric earned this great achievment by creating a very unique tribute/ instructional video that features the jazz great, drummer Buddy Rich.  The videos are now available for viewing on the home page of Modern Drummer Magazine (www.moderndrummer.com).

Eric has been playing around the Detroit area for many years in the prog rock band Space Nelson, and more recently has also been performing in Radar Pilot.  His Buddy Rich video has earned him accolades from many of the top drummers in the world including Charlie Watts and Dennis Chambers, and he is working on a similar  project for Carl Palmer.

 Michiganbands.com Welcomes SoulScholar

SoulScholar is our latest band link addition to the Original Artiststs /  Hard Rock category - and a hard rock band that claims to be from that vague city with fuzzy boundaries known as "Metro Detroit".  You might conclude from that decision that 1) Their real home town just doesn't rock.  2) They're hearts are really with the "D", or 3) It doesn't really matter since any given band typically has members that cross city, county and sometimes even state lines and forcing them to claim any particular one as "home" is just retarded.  Well, it doesn't take a SoulScholar to figure out I'm just trying to fill some space here, so click "read more" below for all the pertinent links!

New Video: Eddie Leighton is all broke up about the Michigan economy

All Broke Up by Eddie LeightonEddie Leighton (of the Eddie Leighton Project) has posted a new video you'll want to check out, particularly if you've suffered any of the ill effects of the Michigan economy as of late.  "I'm Broke Up" finds Eddie in unfamiliar waters, struggling to find a job or economic opportunity of any kind.  "I've been up and down / I've been all over town / through thick and thin / and no one will help me out / I'm not used to this abuse / because I've never been here before...".  He does his best to stay optimistic, and patriotic (even stating the Pledge Of Allegiance) but pulls no punches in laying the blame at the feet of the fat cats who sold us out.  You'll want to check this one out.  Click Here to see "I'm Broke Up".

Be Sure To Check Out Michigan Monster

Hello fellow band heads,

For the last year we've been working on a new website for the Michigan music community. In a nutshell it's a social media site like Myspace or Facebook. The primary purpose is to bring Michigan fans and artists together in one spot.  The site allows artists to post music and media. Friends and Fans can join too and network with the community. Indie artists can upload their music and videos and even sell songs like Itunes and SnoCap if they choose. Cover bands are encouraged to sign up too.

You can check out the site and signup for a profile here:

Flipping the Pig albums on iTunes
fthep writes

Flipping The Pig On iTunesThe Flipping The Pig albums My Heroic Cadences (2008) and You Get The Idea (2007) have just been released on iTunes (both albums can be purchased for the price of one).

21 tracks total, there's a playfulness characteristic of this musical chameleon's grab bag of pop/rock tricks. Whatever you're listening to at the moment, you can be sure that something else lurks around the corner.

Click "read more" below for description and iTunes link.
